Come dance with us!  The renewed interest in the Big Band Swing music style is the drawing force behind the organization of “It’s About Time Big Band”.  The sounds of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and others, plus favorites from the fifties and early sixties will provide an evening of nostalgia and dancing.  This band is a coastal favorite and performs to rave reviews!

 Saturday, July 23, 8:30 p.m.
Salmon Room, Mill Casino, 3201 Tremont, North Bend Oregon
$12 ($10 OCMA Members, $5 Students)

Upon arriving in the Bay Area, Ken Masters met a group of retired educators and professional musicians that were willing to bring  back the sounds of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Les Brown, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and many others.  The musicians were also glad to bring their talents to the sound of “It’s About Time big Band”.

The band members are comprised of players as far north as Florence, Oregon, east to Myrtle Point, Oregon, and south to Brookings, Oregon.  The versatility of the musicians have made it possible to have a Dixieland Band and a Blues Band for special occasions.

The band has provided a resource for public school music students as well as college students.  Many of the community theaters have had the Band help with their musicals, which helps make them a huge success.

“It’s About Time Big Band” has performed for many jazz festivals and national conventions held on the Oregon coast.  Their appearances include the Coos Bay Dixieland Clambake, Oregon Coat Music Festival, Music on the Half Shell, and for organizations such as RSVP, United Way, and 9/11 fundraising events.

The Band’s home base is at the Mill Casino, 3201 Tremont, North Bend, Oregon on the last Sunday of every month from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
